About The Airport

Atlanta International is one of the world's busiest airports. It has 2 terminals - the Domestic Terminal and the Maynard H. Jackson, Jr. International Terminal - linked by 7 concourses, A-F and T, with excellent mall-style shopping and over 100 eateries. The total walking distance between the two terminals, going past every concourse, is over 3km.

Getting to and from the airport

The airport is 11km from Atlanta's central business district.

Taxi - metered taxis wait in the Yellow Bus aisle. A flat rate is available for journeys to the central business district.

Bus - just one local bus route serves the airport, stopping on the way to and from Clayton County Justice Center. Buses travelling as far as Miami run from the Greyhound Flightlink bus station - look for this at the north side of the International Terminal.

Train - the MARTA rapid transit train connects the airport with the city. Airport Station is at the end of the Domestic Terminal.

Hotel shuttle - many nearby hotels provide free airport shuttles for their guests. The shuttles stop at the Ground Transportation area outside the Domestic Terminal. If you're landing at the International Terminal, a courtesy shuttle bus will bring you here. You can contact many of the hotels using the courtesy phones in Baggage Claim or Ground Transportation area.

Car rental - the Rental Car Center can be reached via ATL SkyTrain and is just a few minutes away.

Transit and in-airport hotels

The International Shuttle Connector offers a free, round-the-clock service between the International Terminal, the Domestic Terminal’s Ground Transportation Center and the Rental Car Center. The journey time to each destination is around 15 minutes.

The Plane Train, an automated people mover, links the 2 terminals with all the airport concourses, and takes around 1 minute to travel between two adjacent concourses. Entrances can be found at the middle point of each concourse; follow the signs and take the escalators down. If you want to stretch your legs, it takes around 7 minutes to walk between adjacent terminals, less if you use the moving walkways in the underground pedestrian tunnel (the Transportation Mall).

If you need to work or sleep during a layover here, the Minute Suites in Concourse B provide 5 private suites for travelers. The Marriott Gateway and the SpringHill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway hotels are connected to the airport and are short ride away on the ATL SkyTrain.

Healthy Travel Tip

Airport Art programme. If you need a bit of relaxation away from the shops, bars and restaurants, why not check out Atlanta's impressive Airport Art programme? This features permanent and temporary exhibits and performance art events across the airport. Permanent sculptures can be found in the underground Transportation Mall.

We do our best to keep these guides as up-to-date as possible, but cannot guarantee that they fully reflect the current state of every airport, where changes can happen frequently and without notice. Please contact us with any feedback.
