A glossy four-story shopping mall is the highlight of this clean, modern airport. Its extensive facilities and contemporary architecture have previously earned it several awards from organizations such as Skytrax and the International Air Transport Association. The airport is currently the biggest and busiest in Malaysia and has 2 terminals; the Main Terminal (KLIA) for international flights, and the newer Terminal 2 (also known as klia2) for low-cost airlines.
Take time to appreciate the airport's stunning design.
The work of Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, it features an Islamic-style shading roof anchored by huge columns. The roof is inspired by a Malaysian rainforest tree, with lights that shine between the 'leaves'.
