Parking

There's a good choice of parking facilities, from on-site, multistory parking lots and shaded parking to long-term off-airport lots, with regular shuttle services to take passengers to the terminal building. You can book parking online in advance.

Transit and in-airport hotels

There's no direct link between the secure arrival area of Terminal A and the secure departure area of Terminal B, so you'll have to pass through Customs and Immigration if O.R. Tambo is your first stop in South Africa and you're connecting to a domestic flight.

The Protea Hotel Transit is in the International Terminal. There are also several options outside the terminals if you need to rest before continuing your travels by car. The Intercontinental is just a few steps from the Arrivals exit and has a pool, gym and spa. There's a City Lodge hotel with a pool close to the airport parking.

Healthy Travel Tip

'Silent airports' are based on the idea that quieter environments are more relaxing. At O.R. Tambo International Airport, there are no announcements for domestic flights, and no microphones used at the Domestic Departures terminal - so you can get some peace.

We do our best to keep these guides as up-to-date as possible, but cannot guarantee that they fully reflect the current state of every airport, where changes can happen frequently and without notice. Please contact us with any feedback.
