Terminal Information

Food concessions in Terminal 1 are located across the 4th and 5th floors; head to the 5th floor for runway views. Over 30 dining options are to be found before Passport Control and around 10 afterwards. Enjoy delicacies like soba, sushi and Japanese sweets at around 15 Japanese eateries. Additionally, 3 Chinese and regional restaurants, 8 Western-style and fast food restaurants, and numerous cafés make up a great array of dining options here, many with good options for families. About 9 places offer takeout if you're in a hurry. Sushi Kyotatsu is well reviewed - opposite Gate 33. If you are flying a domestic route, there is only one café after Passport Control.

You'll find an impressive 60+ stores before Passport Control. After going through, there's still excellent shopping to find, with around 10 duty-free outlets, and over 30 other stores and kiosks selling everything from travel goods and fashion accessories to Birkenstock shoes. The largest Hermès airport store in the world and the largest duty-free watch store in Japan can be found in this terminal. There are no less than 23 souvenir and gift stores, selling uniquely Japanese wares. Sake, tea sets and amulets are some of the traditional gifts you can buy here, as well as elegant paper umbrellas. There's also a Biplane Museum shop for airplane enthusiasts. If you are flying a domestic route, there is only one souvenir store after Passport Control.

Duty-free shopping is available on arrival for international travelers only and is located before Customs. In the Arrivals Hall you'll find several minimarts and convenience stores where you can pick up everyday essentials. Local SIM cards are sold at around 5 outlets, or you can shop in true Japanese style and use the vending machine.

Terminal tips

If you're not a shopping fan or you need to entertain the kids, there's plenty to do here.

For a great view of the airport, check out the Observation Deck at Central Building 5F. Be warned though - it can be cold and windy in winter. Close by are the NAA Art Gallery and SKY GATE FM, which has a glass booth so you can watch the radio DJs at work.

There's a Culture Experience Corner on the 3rd floor with changing themes such as ninja or samurai photo opportunities, kite-making or calligraphy.

Head for the Tourist Info Center or the Glass Tower to join in traditional art demonstrations such as crafting an herbarium or trying origami. Kabuki Gate after Security is a must for theater fans.

There's no better place to try shiatsu massage than Japan.

Spa facilities are found on the 2nd and 5th floors at Raffine, both before Passport Control. Bookings are recommended. Spruce up at the nail bar and hair salon on the 4th and 5th floors respectively.
