About The Airport

Named for Miguel Hidalgo, 'the father of Mexican independence', the main airport serving Mexico's second biggest city has 2 terminals. Terminal 1 is for domestic and international flights, while Terminal 2 serves just a few domestic routes. It's the 3rd busiest airport in Mexico, after Mexico City and Cancún.

Getting to and from the airport

The airport is 16km from downtown Guadalajara.

Taxi - prepaid taxis are available in the ground transportation area. You pay for your ride at the Prepaid Taxi booth in the Arrivals hall, and get a ticket to give your driver.

Bus - both express and stopping services run between the airport's ground transportation center, Terminal 1 and downtown Guadalajara.

Hotel shuttle - courtesy shuttle buses run to some of the nearby hotels, including the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express Guadalajara Aeropuerto.

Car rental - car rental agencies have desks in Terminal 1.

There's a parking lot opposite Terminal 1, and another next to the hotel. Parking fees must be paid in Mexican pesos.

The 2 terminals are just a short walk away from each other.

There are no in-airport hotels.

Mosquitoes can be a nuisance at this airport in the summer months, so make sure you bring your insect repellent.

Although this is an international airport, not all staff will speak English.

Bring a phrase book or be ready to translate online if you don't speak Spanish.

Airplane environments are dry, so it's important to stay hydrated when you fly. According to the Aerospace Medical Association, you should drink about eight fluid ounces of water each hour you're in the air.
